About our Club
Kiwanis Club of Sammamish as we are officially known,
is a local chapterof the larger Kiwanis International Foundation that co-sponsors
the local "K" Family youth organizations. These include K-Kids (Kindergarten - 2nd
grade), Kiwajuniors (Elementary), Builders Club (Jr. & Secondary), Key Club
(High School), and Circle K (College/H.S. graduates), providing young people the
opportunity to help others, become personally involved in their community, and build
a positive future for themselves. Each club shares the Kiwanis International Service
Projects as well as develops their own local programs.
Sammamish Kiwanis’ K Family:
Key Club of Skyline H.S.: sponsor and support a variety of community
service projects that embellish the quality of their leadership attributes, strengthen
their life skills to succeed as independent, contributing citizens.
Our Club’s Young Children Priority One project is working
with Eastside Baby Corner to serve needy families with children, infants through
ages 12, referred by health and social service agencies. Provisions (both donated
and purchased) of formula, diapers, clothes, toys, books and other items are collected
from new and recycled sources and redistributed on a request basis.
Scholarships - Further Education Scholarships to members of our
Key Club for demonstration of leadership and to exemplary EHS students for overcoming
adversity.
Sammi Awards - co-sponsor the Trevor Price Children’s Award and
designed/financed the Sammi Awards portable Kiosk display.
YMCA & B&GC - annual donation and assistance with Eggstravaganza
Egg Hunt and the Summer Splash event.
ACS Relay For Life - sponsor teams at Fundraiser events
Community Awareness Services, provided through various avenues
of communication and information exchange forums that deal with community concerns.
Some examples are supporting Traffic Speed Reader boards, Bicycle Safety Fairs,
IDD educational pamphlets and fundraisers, City Incorporation forums, School District
Information forums, City Planning Open Houses and guest speakers who specialize
in youth care issues.
Annual Projects include Road Clean Up & Blood Drives - twice yearly; Ski Sports
Swap - community recycling venue; Bell Ringing/Caroling - fundraiser for Eastside
Baby Corner; Ice Cream Sales - City of Sammamish Summer Parks program; Breakfast
/ Photos with Santa - community service project; Playground Equipment Installation
& Traffic Island Landscaping - for City of Sammamish.
